Serious Assault – Hamilton


Detectives are appealing for information following a serious assault which occurred in the Hamilton area on Thursday 3 January 2019.

Around 9.45pm a 44 year old man stopped his black Range Rover in Backmuir Drive at its junction with Whistleberry Drive.

Shortly after getting out of his vehicle the man was approached by a group of four or five male youths who proceeded to attack him with golf clubs and other weapons.

Neighbours who witnessed the disturbance came out to assist the victim and the suspects ran off in along Whistleberry Crescent.

Emergency services attended and the victim was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment to serious head and facial injuries, as well as significant bruising and swelling to his body. Medical staff described his condition as stable.

The first suspect is described as white, between 18 and 25 years old, of slim build with short fair hair and wearing a black hoodie.

The second suspect is described white, between 18 and 25 years old, of slim build with short dark hair and wearing a black zipper.

The third suspect is described as white, between 18 and 25 years old, of medium build with long dark hair flopped at the front, and wearing a dark grey Nike Hoodie.

The other suspects are described as white, between 18 and 25 years old, and wearing dark clothing.

Detective Constable John Law from Cambuslang CID said: “This was an extremely violent and targeted attack on the victim and it is vital that anyone with information which could help us trace the abhorrent individuals responsible comes forward.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and either witnessed what happened or noticed a group of young men matching the above descriptions to please get in touch.
