Kiltwalk for little Islay

Local lady Stephanie Orr and a group of her friends are doing the 23 mile kilt walk on the 28th April.

They’re walking in aid of The Glasgow’s Children’s Hospital Charity on behalf of Stephanie’s daughter, Islay.

When little Islay was only 3 weeks old, she took extremely unwell and it was discovered she had an intraventricular bleed in her brain. All going well this would have resolved itself but for Islay it never and caused her to be diagnosed with Hydrocephalus at 5 weeks.

She underwent two major brain surgeries within 10 days and left the hospital with a shunt, a device that keeps her alive. Hydrocephalus is an uncurable condition & shunts will fail and malfunction and although that seems scary the neurosurgical team, nurses, doctors and all staff were all amazing and provided excellent care and support for Islay and us.

Stephanie added, “We are doing this walk to give back to the hospital who looked after and cared for my girl (and us!!) at a very scary time. “

“Please give what you can & share to raise as much money as we can for this special charity. Thanks , Islays mum, Stephanie X”

DONATE HERE: You can even choose which team member you would like to support on the walk, but the money will all go towards the team effort.
