Well known local man, Stephen McDade is picking a fight!
Thankfully, not with us! It’s a charity boxing match next month.
Stephen is taking part in the White Collar Boxing event in the Normandy Hotel in Renfrew on Saturday 23rd June. He’s set up charitable fundraising page for Cancer Research and looking for sponsorship.

He told us earlier today, “I’ve been training at the Blantyre’s Preistfield Boxing Gym (although they have nothing to do with the event itself.) My reasons for doing this are like most people have. We all know someone, family, friends, loved ones whose lives have been devastated by cancer.”
Cancer Research UK do fantastic pioneering work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer and has helped save millions of lives. Over the past 40 years survival has doubled, thanks to the great progress research has made.
Stephen continued, “Like most people, my family has lost loved ones due to this terrible illness and with peoples support hopefully I can raise as much money as possible to help continue this vital research. I’ve set a target to raise £500 and your support is greatly appreciated.”
