The Haven, a registered charity which provides support to people affected by a range of life limiting illness and to their family members and carers and supports people across the whole of North and South Lanarkshire through its centres in Blantyre, Wishaw and Forth, is aiming to take their biggest team ever to the Edinburgh Kiltwalk to raise vital funds in order to sustain their support and services in the local community.
Raising funds to support families facing the challenges of living with life limiting illness or bereavement, people from all over Lanarkshire will be walking in aid of The Haven at one of Scotland’s highest profile charity events, the Kiltwalk, in Edinburgh which is taking place on Sunday 15thSeptember.
Fundraising events like the Kiltwalk are vital to helping The Haven sustain their programme of support which is designed to help individuals cope with the physical, emotional and practical aspects of their illness in a calming non-clinical environment.
Lynsay Cooper, Communications Officer at The Haven said: “The Kiltwalk is a hugely important event in The Haven’s fundraising calendar and we hope that with the help of our local community we can continue to make 2019 our most successful year to date. We have already had a team of 115 walkers take part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk raising well over £40,000 so far, with donations still coming in, and we hope to do the same at the Edinburgh Kiltwalk.
“With three walk options – The Wee Wander (5 miles), The Big Stroll (15.5 miles) and The Mighty Stride (24 miles) – you can make it a fun day out for all the family or if you are looking to challenge yourself you can do so, there really is something for everyone!
“We really encourage anyone who is interested in taking part to get involved and support The Haven and help families in our local community.”

If you choose to do the Kiltwalk in aid of The Haven they will pay half of your registration fee, if you commit to raising £100, as well as offering free transport to and from the event from one of their three Haven centres.
