A touching tribute took place this evening, Saturday 9th November for Blantyre man Kyle Monteith, who sadly died earlier this week.
Almost 600 people from far and wide congregated at Kirkton Park at 6pm for a mass Balloon release. As the crowds gathered this cold evening, you could hear a pin drop as the balloons were released, floating gently upwards and away over Blantyre.
An impressive fireworks display followed and the remembrance event rounded off to huge, prolonged applause.
There was also much sadness as people lost themselves in thought and remembrance. It was a fitting tribute. It’s clear from the turnout what a popular lad Kyle was and how much he’ll be missed.
