Covid Update Coming for Scotland

With a new strain of covid recently found in the UK and proven to be spreading faster than before, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has just reversed some restrictions in large parts of England, tightening restrictions further.

He’s made a live address this afternoon making a more limited case for meeting at Christmas time.

The Scottish cabinet was meeting on Saturday to discuss the situation here in Scotland with Nicola Sturgeon going to make an address at 5.30pm, today Saturday 19 December 2020..

Cases currently at lower level in Scotland than rUK – but preventative action may be necessary to stop faster spreading strain taking hold. We’ll be covering the update here.

Wales and Northern Ireland have already announced post-Christmas lockdowns.
