Lidl in Blantyre is preparing to install Reverse Vending Machines for customers, to further goals in protecting the environment.
The Bottle Deposit Scheme is expected to commence in 2021 with customers able to dispense up to 60 containers per minute.The idea is simple and will assist recycling. A printed voucher will be dispensed when containers and bottles are deposited, which can be used towards your shopping in store or to receive directly back as cash.
Machines will only be operating during trading hours. The business has submitted plans meantime to alter the store layout slightly, not just to accommodate this, but also to provide expanded backoffice space for staff.
