Taking this opportunity to clear up yet another local rumour about the Low Blantyre Post Office.
The Post Office on Glasgow Road inside the convenience store is NOT closing or moving.
What seems to have happened is that the Post Office issued letters to people with Post Office ‘purple cards’ and advised them that THIS CARD is getting cancelled (not the actual Post Office!) and for those customers to pursue a credit union account or a bank account. They still can use any card to put money into their account or withdraw money from their account using the post office.
The Post office, run by local businessman David Agnew is staying open.
The premises are undergoing a renovation at the moment as David and his staff create the brand new cafe inside the rebranded Family Shopper Convenience store (formerly Londis).
We’ll post well in advance if and when any short temporary closures are needed during the essential refurb.
