This is the mess currently polluting the Rotten Calder River in Blantyre this week!
And it truly is rotten this week! Sewage has been pouring into the River, ‘doon the cather’ and flowing downstream. It seems to be worsening this week too, so perhaps wise to keep your pets (and kids!) out the river for now.
The pollution has been reports to SEPA and to Scottish Water and is believed to be connected to a malfunction in a nearby sewerage pump. The source building or tank causing the pollution is presently unknown.
