Police Appeal after Accident

A 30-year-old man is critically ill in hospital following a serious road crash on the A725 East Kilbride Expressway.

At around 10.40pm on Saturday, 17th February 2024, a Bentley Continental GT car was travelling eastbound on the A725 when it appeared to lose control and struck the concrete barrier.

The car and the barrier suffered significant damage and large tailbacks formed. Emergency services rushed to the scene and the male driver of the car was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as critical.

A 26-year-old female passenger was also taken to hospital and released following treatment. The Expressway was closed for some time to allow collision investigation work to be carried out causing major tailbacks.

We hope those involved make a full recovery. Meantime, Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage of the crash to come forward

Sergeant Elaine Scott said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision, who has yet to speak to us, to please get in touch. We are piecing together the circumstances of how the crash occurred and information is vital in assisting us to do that. I would also ask anyone with dash cam equipment to check their footage.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3844 of 17 February 2024.
