It was with great sadness we learned that local woman, Morag Glen sadly passed away on Monday 8th September 2025.
Morag passed away peacefully at home in Blantyre. She was 96.
We’re sure, like ourselves many people in Blantyre and beyond will remember Morag as their primary teacher at High Blantyre Primary School, then later as Science teacher at Calder Street, then Physics and Science at Blantyre High School.
The passing of a much-loved teacher will touch many local lives (and on a personal note, given Morag was our own teacher in the 1980s), we know she will be remembered fondly for her fairness, expansive knowledge, and a gift for making every child feel valued. She always took the time to explain, encourage, and ensure questions were answered with patience and care. Her dedication to her profession left a positive lasting mark on countless young lives.
Morag also was exceptionally knowledgeable about Blantyre’s history, a subject she enjoyed researching and learning more about.
Funeral arrangements have been made for 1.00pm on Wednesday, 24 September at South Lanarkshire crematorium, to which anyone is welcome to attend. Our sympathies go out to Iain , Alison and indeed all of Morag’s family at this sad time.
