Do you live in Cambuslang, Hamilton, Blantyre or the surrounding area?
Scottish Power are inviting local communities to find out more about two projects to upgrade the electricity network in South Lanarkshire. With electricity demand across Scotland set to double by 2050, they need to increase the capacity on the network to support a secure and reliable electricity supply for future generations.
The first project will see investment to upgrade the existing power lines between Clydesmill substation in Cambuslang and Strathaven substation, west of Hamilton, with a new overhead line tower proposed at each substation as well as a new underground cable and an extension to Strathaven substation.
A separate project, which has already been subject to public consultation, will present its final proposal for the extension of Clydesmill substation and upgrading the existing overhead line to Denny North substation.
