Vaccine for 70 and Over

As Scotland’s Vaccine rollout gathers speed, it’s been announced that people aged 70 to 79 are the next priority group.

The 470,000 Scottish citizens in that age bracket should look out for the arrival of official blue envelopes by post from tomorrow onwards containing appointment dates for their first dose.

First envelopes are being sent out in Fife, Forth Valley, Ayrshire and Arran, Lanarkshire, Greater Glasgow and Clyde, and Lothian.

Many people aged 80 and over however still have to be vaccinated and that older group won’t be receiving an envelope for the new booking system. About 95% of care home residents have received their first dose.

The Scottish Government has stated yesterday that Scotland’s rate of vaccinations was speeding up considerably. A snapshot showing progress per age category is shown in this chart. [Source Public Health Scotland 20.01.21]
