The Big Art Show 2024 is a National Exhibition with over 1,500 artworks from 586 talented artists and one of them is from Blantyre!
Charmaine Boyle is a self-taught artist living in Blantyre and currently has 6 incredible oil paintings on display at ‘The Big Art Show’ in Paisley. Born and raised in South Africa , Charmaine has been in Blantyre for the last 18 years. Having carved out a career in marketing, in 2022, she made the bold move to become a full time artist, following her own passion and love of art.
The exhibition is one of Scotland’s largest entry art exhibitions from all over the UK , as well as artworks from Europe and Asia.
Charmaine’s artworks exhibiting are:
Sakura (a painting of cherry blossoms);
Reminiscence and Innocence (2 paintings of wild cosmos);
Awakening (a detailed red rose);
Harmony (Magnolia with 24CT Gold Leaf);
and Northern Daydream (a landscape painting of Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands).
Speaking to Blantyre Telegraph earlier this week, Charmaine told us, “I was thrilled for my work to be highlighted in a recent article by esteemed art critic, Susan Mansfield, in The Scotsman magazine on Saturday (14/09/2024). https://www.scotsman.com/arts-and-culture/art/the-big-art-show-paisley-review-joyful-in-its-inclusivity-4775369 “
Charmaine continued, “The beauty of the different places I have lived continually form part of the inspiration I draw from, with my creative journey deeply intertwined in nature. Through representational painting, I aim to express a sense of peace, tranquillity and safety I experience when immersed in nature.”
“In July this year I was also selected as a Finalist in the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, Wildlife Artist of the Year competition, with my painting ‘The Call of the Trees’, exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London. “
