New Blantyre Group supporting Wellbeing and Connections
A new community group in Blantyre, hosted by Kilbryde Hospice’s Compassionate Communities, offers support and activities for adults facing life-shortening conditions and isolation. Meeting every Tuesday from 10.30am to 2.30pm, it features classes, exercises, games, and socializing, all for free. Local residents are encouraged to join.
Strathaven Balloon Festival returns soon
The Strathaven Balloon Festival, Scotland’s only hot air balloon event, will take place from August 28 to 30, 2026, at Strathaven Park. This free festival features balloon launches, family entertainment, live music, and a spectacular evening glow. Activities depend on weather conditions, promising a colorful spectacle for all.

The Blantyre Community Events group has extended the entry deadline for the Live at Livvies Junior Talent Show to Tuesday, August 18th. They invite performers of all kinds, emphasizing community involvement, and humorously note they’d prefer this over hearing certain karaoke performances. The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 22nd.

Elvis fans can look forward to an exciting night on November 22nd as Simon Patrick, a three-time European Champion and finalist on BBC’s World’s Greatest Elvis, performs at Blantyre Miners’ Welfare.
