Breaking news: The French President has tonight announced that a curfew will be imposed on Paris and 8 other major cities from this Saturday.
The curfew will restrict movement by preventing being out and about from 9pm until 6am. A state of emergency has also been declared.
A further 22,951 infections were confirmed on Wednesday. Across Europe, governments are introducing new restrictions to battle a second wave of infections.
