An update on the new LIDL construction at Glasgow Road, Blantyre.
Forum Contractors continue with their big build, which has taken just over half a year so far. Since its demolition in March and construction work starting in Summer 24, passers by have seen this large building quickly go up, with the external work to the store now nearing completion.
Cladding is now all on, the windows in, power upgraded and grading of the carpark and external tidyup now underway. It’s easier to see the larger footprint of the building compared to what was previously there and it’s certainly taller. Solar panels have been constructed on the roof.
Internally, things are equally well progressed. The heating and ventilation in, the partitioning of offices and toilets done, floors, lighting installed and functional. Forum working hard to get some of the packages finished this side of Christmas.
The store, as was the case all along, is still planned to open early in 2025. Readers on our previous posts about this build have indicated how much they’re looking forward to the supermarket re-opening.
We’ll be posting opening plans on here in due course and will provide a firm opening date as soon as its released.
