UK Self-Assessment Deadline Approaching: Avoid £100 Fines

Millions of people across the UK have yet to submit their online self-assessment tax returns ahead of tonight’s (Friday, 31st January) midnight deadline, HMRC has warned. This puts them at risk of a £100 fine.

Over three million individuals facing potential penalties are being encouraged to seek support online and use the HMRC app to settle any outstanding tax once their return is completed.

New regulations have also been introduced for declaring income earned or received online.

For instance, under these rules, individuals selling around 30 items on platforms such as eBay and Vinted will have their sales data reported to HMRC, which will then be cross-checked against their tax returns.
