South Lanarkshire Council Responds to Pool Closure Concerns

A response from South Lanarkshire Council has reached us in relation to pool closures at Blantyre Leisure Centre.

“The decision to close off the baby pool – The teaching pool is only closed when the centre has lifeguard shortages to allow the centre to provide access to swimming in the main pool for all customers.”

“The closure of the teaching pool allows the centre to comply with the nationally recognised staffing level for the safe operation of pools.”

“I can advise that we have recently been able to redeploy additional lifeguarding staff to Blantyre Leisure Centre, as a result of the maintenance closure at the Dollan Aqua Centre, which will help alleviate some of the staffing issues.”

Hopefully this will address some of the recent pool closures which have been frustrating so many people.
