Such a shame to see lowlife vandalism at Greenhall. We can’t imagine anybody in Blantyre would ever be so stupid or idiotic to destroy things in their own town, so can only assume people from outside Blantyre have done this.
The bench, donated kindly by the community has been set on fire and is destroyed, creating an eyesore mess in the park, an expensive cleanup operation which will only end up impacting people paying council tax, and of course nowhere for visitors to sit.
We hate this sort of mindless criminal activity. Its brings the place down and all the work which community members have put in. There are trail cams CCTV in many places in the Calder including in that park, so for those who own those devices, we’re offering something if they want to pass us information which will lead to the identification of the individual(s) who set this on fire.
