Today, Monday 30th June could be one of the hottest June days on record in the UK, with temperatures of 34C (93F) possible in the south. The highest temperatures are likely around Greater London and Bedfordshire.
But not everyone will feel the heat today, with mixed temperatures up here in Scotland and rain expected in places. Today’s high temperatures come as people have been queuing for the opening of the Wimbledon tennis tournament in south-west London, and thousands leave Glastonbury.
Amber heat health alerts are in place for much of England until 18:00 BST on Tuesday, meaning health services could be significantly affected. In Central Scotland highs of 22 degrees are expected today.
Meanwhile, temperatures across much of southern Europe are expected to remain above an incredible 40C (104F) today, as abnormal seasonal temperatures continue to cause alerts.
