We recently reported that Blantyre Leisure Centre will soon be closing for approximately 4 weeks from Monday 18 August 2025 for the first phase of improvement and maintenance works. Here’s some more information directly from SLLC:
“Many of our facilities and services will be unavailable during the closure, but our swimming lessons and club sessions will continue with some small adjustments.
The full list of temporary services changes are as follows:
- Gym users can pop into any one of our nearby centres at Eastfield Lifestyle, Hamilton Water Palace, Jock Stein Centre, and Fairhill Lifestyles.
- The pool will be closed for public use. Find pool timetables for nearby locations here.
- Fitness classes will be moved to Jock Stein Centre except for Aquafit. This class will be temporarily paused during the closure.
- Racquet sports can be booked at Jock Stein Centre from 7am to 9pm, Mon-Fri and 9am to 2pm, Sat-Sun.
- ACE children’s activity timetable will be moved to Jock Stein Centre.
Work will continue to bring leisure and culture facilities together under one roof with the addition of library provision inside of the centre. This will be a good first step towards creating a hub of activity and services for the Blantyre community to enjoy.
SLLC Members will have unlimited use of swimming pools, gyms and fitness classes at any one of our centres. We’ll keep our channels updated every step of the way with our progress on our website, social media, e-mail, and our handy mobile app.
