Welcome to 2026!

Scotland has welcomed in a New Year in spectacular style with an incredible display of fireworks above Edinburgh. Happy New Year to you all!

Putting on a fantastic show which took 4 days to layout, the fireworks delighted many people in person watching from the Capital’s streets and those watching on TV from all over the country.

As some of us nurse hangovers this morning, the first news headlines of the year are about the forthcoming weather. A cold snap which will see temperatures plummet along with some prolonged winter sunshine for Lanarkshire. For those north of Dundee, snow showers are in the forecast along with some strong winds.

It’s turning colder and some scattered snow showers may reach Lanarkshire next week as schools and workplaces return.
