As surrounding farms approach lambing season, a reminder that the use of off road bikes on farming land is not permitted, unless permission has been given.
As Police Scotland continue to sieze and remove off road trail bikes which have been illegally causing nuisance on public roads in Lanarkshire, a reminder using bikes in areas where animals are, can have serious implications. The use of off-road bikes amongst farm livestock can result is distress to animals and mismothering, leading to the death of new-born lambs.
In a statement this week, Police Scotland added, βThose responsible for riding on farmland and disturbing livestock can be prosecuted under: The Animal Health and Welfare Act 2006.β
