Skate Rite is a local community group dedicated to providing accessible, friendly, and inclusive skating for everyone. Today, the group is celebrating after receiving £4,500 from The National Lottery Community Fund. The funding will help them expand their inclusive rolling sessions and make skating accessible to disabled individuals and the wider community.
Skate Rite was founded as an inclusive charity on wheels to break down barriers to skating and ensure everyone, regardless of ability, has a safe and welcoming space to roll. Run by passionate local volunteers, the group focuses on community, connection, and joy.
The group runs regular sessions that help participants build confidence, learn new skills, make friends, and experience the physical and mental benefits of skating.
This vital funding will allow Skate Rite to secure accessible venue space, invest in specialized equipment, and subsidize session costs so that financial and physical barriers don’t keep people off the rink. It will also help the group build a stronger support network for disabled skaters and their families, fostering a true sense of belonging.
