We are saddened to report the passing of well-known Blantyre resident and retired police chief inspector George Hamilton, who died on Saturday 26 September, aged 85, following a fall at home.
George dedicated more than 34 years to policing, beginning his career with Lanarkshire Constabulary in Blantyre in 1963. He went on to serve in several senior roles across Lanarkshire and Glasgow before retiring in 1997.
A familiar face in the local community, George was a founding member and former president of Blantyre Rotary Club. He was also involved in amateur dramatics at the Church of Scotland in High Blantyre.
George had been living with a blood disorder for several years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Pat in 2008, after 45 years of marriage. He leaves behind his son, daughter, their families and grandchildren.
Our sincere condolences go to George’s family, friends and all who knew him in Blantyre. May he rest in peace. ❤️
