Remembering Frank Anderson (93)

A former Blantyre police inspector who dedicated more than 30 years to policing in Lanarkshire has sadly passed away at the age of 93.

Francis John Goldie Anderson, known as Frank, was born in Blantyre in 1933 and joined Lanarkshire Constabulary in September 1954, following two years of National Service.

After serving in various roles across Lanarkshire, Frank was promoted to Inspector at Hamilton in 1976, before returning to his hometown of Blantyre in May 1978 to take charge of the local police station.

He remained in charge at Blantyre until his retirement in November 1984, bringing to an end a distinguished policing career spanning more than three decades.

Frank passed away on 30th September 2026. His wife Helen predeceased him in 2016.

Our condolences go to Frank’s family and friends at this sad time.

Do any Blantyre readers remember Inspector Anderson from his years policing our town in the late 1970s and early 1980s?
