Lanarkshire Businesses Re-opening Friday

We’ve sought some clarity from South Lanarkshire Council around the re-opening of businesses tomorrow after seeing a few businesses planning to reopen which would still be breaking rules.

Lanarkshire moves from current Tier 4 in to Tier 3 tomorrow, a lessening of restrictions, thankfully.

For businesses in Lanarkshire, this means retailers including Salons, Hairdressers and Barbers may re-open at 6am on Friday 11th December 2020. All other businesses, including hospitality, pubs, restaurants and any other non essential premises will need to wait until the evening, 6pm Friday 11th December 2020. For many this means simply opening up on Saturday.

What does Tier 3 mean for everything else?

Meeting other households

You are not allowed to meet anyone in your home or their home who is not from your household.

Hospitality

Restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars can reopen, but only for food and non-alcoholic drinks. Venues must be closed by 6pm, with last entry at 5pm. The maximum number of people who can meet indoors – or outdoors – in public is 6, from no more than two households.

Travel

As per tier 4, you must not travel into or out or tier 3 or 4 areas ‘except for essential reasons’.

Shopping

All retailers can re-open (not just essential retailers), as long as Scottish Government guidance is followed.

Hairdressers and other ‘close contact’ retail services

Close contact retail services are permitted to operate providing they follow Scottish Government guidance to ensure the safety of customers and staff
‘Mobile close contact retail services’ are not permitted to trade.
This means that hairdressers, barbers, beauty and nail services can trade
Hair removal, tattoo, piercing and body modification, fashion design, dress-fitting and tailoring, indoor portrait photography and massage therapies can also re-open in tier 3 provided they follow the safety guidelines.
