Like a scene from a post apocalyptic sci-fi movie. Picture this. Humanity is gone. Nature has claimed back urban cities, weeds, bushes, trees claiming back manmade concrete and hardstandings. Ivy clambers up any route it can take as weeds and grass take route in areas designed to be weed free.
Wait a minute! This isn’t 2124 and humans are very much still around! This is 2024. High Blantyre and traffic islands under the maintenance regime of the current South Lanarkshire Administration! Blantyre…..the town that Councils forgot.
A tongue in cheek post, but one with a serious message. SURELY the Council can do better than this!
Perhaps the intention here is to let it seed, so that no maintenance needs done at all. Regardless, THIS is what people see when they first arrive into Blantyre. Not a great impression for us, the council or the place! We’re all very proud of this town, a great place where community thrives. We deserve better.
