Remembrance – Blantyre’s Fallen

By Blantyre’s memorial, in silence kept,
We honour those who fought and wept.
Red poppies bloom, a solemn sea,
A pledge to keep their memory free.

They gave their all beneath foreign skies,
Their courage strong, their spirits high.
For peace they marched, for hope they fell,
In heroic stories we often tell.

Now on this ground, their names endure,
In steadfast stone, in memories pure.
Each petal red, a heart, a tear,
A symbol bright, to hold them near.

O Blantyre’s sons and daughters brave,
In fields afar, in ocean waves—
Your sacrifice we humbly bear,
In whispered prayers, in thankful air.

So here we stand, in autumn’s chill,
By poppies bright, Cenotaph still,
And though the years may drift away,
We’ll honour you all, this Remembrance Day.
