Next Sunday, 8th November, the people of Blantyre will once again gather in quiet remembrance, honouring those who gave their lives in war and conflict so that future generations could live in peace.
Our town’s annual Remembrance Sunday Service will take place at 3pm beside the War Memorial at High Blantyre Cemetery, a place where the names of the fallen serve as a lasting reminder of the sacrifices made by local men and women.
For many, Remembrance Sunday is deeply personal. A time to remember a father, grandfather, brother, son or loved one who served. For others, it is an opportunity to reflect on the courage, suffering and extraordinary sacrifice of generations who came before us.
