Pupils from S4 at Calderside Academy participated in a litter-picking event around Glasgow Road to support their ASDAN Silver Award. The weather was favorable, providing a great day for community service. Their efforts significantly improved the area’s appearance, earning praise for their hard work and dedication. A gang, including Lauren Neary and Robert Faulds, was sentenced for a brutal attack on an off-duty police officer in Blantyre. Neary received six years and Faulds eight years in prison. The officer suffered severe injuries requiring surgery, leaving him permanently disfigured and unable to return to frontline policing.
