20 mph Speed Restrictions imposed

On 16 June 2025 South Lanarkshire Council created an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which makes it unlawful for any person, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, to cause or permit any vehicle to drive at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour on the lengths of roads detailed below:- 

Auchinraith Primary School
Calder Street, Blantyre, both directions – From a point 13 metres south-east of the extended south-east kerbline of Victoria Street, south-eastwards for a distance of 131 metres or thereby. 

Calderside Academy and Calderside Nursery School
Boswell Drive, both directions – Full length, a distance of 212 metres or thereby. 

David Livingstone Memorial Primary School
Carlowrie Avenue, Blantyre, both directions – From the extended north-west kerbline of Lime Grove north-westwards for a distance of 10 metres or thereby. 

Coatshill Avenue, Blantyre, both directions – From the extended south-west kerbline of Morven Avenue, south-westwards for distance of 64 metres or thereby. 

Devondale Avenue, Blantyre, both directions – From a point 28 metres north-west of the extended north-west kerbline of Lime Grove, south-eastwards to a point 7 metres north-west of the extended north-west kerbline of Glenview Place, a distance of 168 metres or thereby. 

Lime Grove, Blantyre, both directions – Full length, a distance of 159 metres or thereby. 

Morven Avenue, Blantyre, both directions – From a point 6 metres north-west of the extended north-west kerbline of Roselea Place, north-westwards to a point 11 metres north-west of the extended north-west kerbline of Lime Grove, a distance of 140 metres or thereby.

Bardykes Road, Blantyre, both directions – From a point 71 metres north-east of the extended north kerbline off Sycamore Grove, north-eastwards and northwards to a point 30 metres south of the extended south kerbline of Cedar Place, a distance of 125 metres or thereby.

Chestnut Grove, Blantyre, both directions – From the extended south kerbline of Fernslea Avenue, southwards for a distance of 53 metres or thereby. 

Fernslea Avenue, Blantyre, both directions – From a point 9 metres north-west of the extended north-west kerbline of Birch Place, north-westwards and westwards to the extended east kerbline of Oaklea Crescent (eastern entrance), a distance of 271 metres or thereby.
