Drivers beware! Some disruption coming if you travel on the M8. Average speed cameras are being installed on the M8 with speed restrictions of 40mph.
On behalf of Transport Scotland, Amey will deliver a £10million bridge refurbishment project at Junction 26 (Hillington Interchange) on the M8. The works, scheduled across five phases from September 2025 to Spring 2026, will involve extensive repairs to four major bridge structures. Upgrades will include vehicle parapets, waterproofing, safety barriers and resurfacing.
To allow the ‘essential works’ to proceed safely, traffic diversions will be in place:
🔹 North of Hillington Interchange (Renfrew/Braehead area):
- Daytime (6am–7pm): Vehicles using the J26 on-slip will be diverted via Hillington Interchange → King’s Inch Road → Old Govan Road → M8 eastbound at J25A (Braehead).
- Overnight (7pm–6am): Vehicles will instead be diverted via Hillington Interchange → Renfrew Road → Shieldhall Road → Helen Street → M8 eastbound at J24 (Helen Street Interchange).
🔹 South of Hillington Interchange (Hillington Industrial Estate area):
- All traffic will be diverted via Hillington Road → Paisley Road West → Helen Street → M8 eastbound at J24 (Helen Street Interchange).
A temporary 40mph speed limit, enforced by average speed cameras, will remain in place throughout. Construction will run 24/7 to minimise disruption and ensure the safety of both road users and the workforce.
