What a great day we had yesterday (Saturday 23rd Aug) at the Summer Music Festival at David Livingstone grounds, Blantyre!
The rain stayed off and we enjoyed listening to the great musicians and talent on the stage.
David Livingstone Trust is a charitable organisation, fully reliant upon advance sponsorship and raising funds at the event itself to help cover the costs. Perhaps unforseen costs that not everybody first sees, like stage and sound equipment hire, license costs and insurance. As such, along with local sponsors Premier Mos and Kennedy Executive Travel, Blantyre Telegraph was absolutely delighted and quick to sponsor this event to help make it possible. It was wonderful to see the park busy with families enjoying themselves with a buzz back again similar to that of Blantyre’s amazing outdoor events of the 2010s.
Notable thanks also goes out the Trust staff, the volunteers who pulled the event together and helped tidy up afterwards. Thanks also to all the vendors and organisers of Wylde Thistle Market. We loved going round every stall and hearing how talented each person is and the efforts they put into their craft. The indoor market returns in September and later in November this year.
