As 2025 draws to a close, we’re looking at some things which will change in 2026.
Scotland’s ban on wet wipes comes into effect in mid 2026 as it tackles the global issue of plastics being disposed. Specifically a ban on the supply and sale of baby wipes containing elements of microplastics which can poison wildlife and enter the food chain.
Plastic free wipes are already readily available in shops. The ban once again has Scotland leading the way in the UK when it comes to tackling pollutants in the environment, with Wales to follow in late 2026. England and Northern Ireland are likely to follow the ban in 2027.
