The British Heart Foundation is now calling on community group leaders in identified high-need areas to apply for free defibrillators through its Community Defibrillator Funding Programme.
The charity has 400 defibrillator packages available, with priority given to locations identified as being most in need.
Over the last three years, 1,000 defibrillators have been distributed through the programme, including 166 across Scotland and placements in every local authority.
The scheme is supported by BHF partners Royal Mail, Sky Bet and Omaze.

Applications are open for the BHF’s 2026 scheme, and the charity is encouraging eligible communities to apply.
You must be applying on behalf of a non-profit community-focused group. They can only accept one application from each local branch of a community group.
Some examples of groups they will accept are:
resident associations and informal groups.
faith organisations
sports groups
charities
social clubs
community centres
parish councils
local social enterprise organisations
community interest companies
Successful applicants will receive a defibrillator and cabinet, and installation costs will be covered where required. Future replacement parts will be free of charge when they expire or are used in an emergency for up to 10 years.
Community groups can check their eligibility and submit an application for a BHF-funded defibrillator before February 2027.
