Not wanting to post anything about this until we received official news from authorities, police have now confirmed a serious sexual assault took place in High Blantyre.
The woman was seriously sexually assaulted in the area of Abernethy Avenue in Westcraigs, High Blantyre prompting a police lockdown of the area.
Officers remain in the area this morning conducting door to door investigations though not providing further information at this time. Police have asked anyone with any information or CCTV to come forward.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing in the area of Abernethy Avenue and Westerpark Avenue in Blantyre following a report of a serious sexual assault on a woman, which occurred shortly after 10pm on Tuesday, 8 September, 2026.
Officers will remain in the area while investigations are carried out and anyone with any concerns, or information, is asked to approach them or contact 101 and quote incident 1402 of Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
Words cannot be expressed for what this poor woman has gone through and hope she has support from family, friends and authorities. We would ask readers to avoid any speculation and to respect the privacy of the individual. We hope justice is served and the person who conducted this vile crime is caught quickly.
