Discover untold stories of David Livingstone’s African Expeditions

This October, David Livingstone Birthplace in Blantyre is marking Black History Month 2026 with a fascinating series of guided tours, uncovering the remarkable stories of people whose contributions to history deserve greater recognition.

Visitors will discover the lives of the Black men and women who accompanied, assisted and supported David Livingstone during his journeys across Africa. Their knowledge, courage and contributions were essential to his expeditions, yet their stories have often been overlooked.

Led by heritage trainee Natasha, these special tours will offer a fresh perspective on Livingstone’s travels, bringing previously unheard voices and experiences to the forefront.
