Call for Transport Assistance

Calderside Academy are putting out a call for some assistance with transportation for pupils.

Secondary pupils and teachers are hoping to visit Blantyre Primary Schools with a music tour in May/June.  The tour involves a number of instrumentalists and singers from Calderside visiting the primaries and putting on a concert lasting around an hour. The musical event hopes to present to all primary pupils, not just P6/7. It is interactive, asking questions about instruments, giving pupils some time to play the taiko drums and is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the hard work of the Secondary pupils.

With three music teachers attending, staff become familiar faces to those primary pupils who join Calderside Academy in August and many will recall the performances from years gone by.

The problem however, is transportation is needed. Buses or minibuses. That’s where local businesses may be able to help.

Several Blantyre Primary Schools will be visited though staff will be able to walk to nearby Auchinraith School. With costs of transportation soaring in recent years, this appeal for assistance goes out to any kind business who either may be able to directly offer the service for free or discounted cost.
