Pupils from the ASN Department at Calderside Academy recently had an excellent opportunity to visit a local factory to discover what goes on and how the factory works.
The S6 pupils are taking part in a course called “Moving On”, which is designed to prepare the pupils for leaving school and entering the workplace. Sarah Bryce is pictued with Paul Davidson, one of the owners of Glencairn Crystal in East Kilbride.
The pupils, along with their teacher, Mr Obre, were given a tour of the work environment and had a fabulous question and answer session with Paul about a variety of aspects relating to the world of work, employment and expectations of employers for school leavers.
It is wonderful that local companies are willing to give this experience to secondary pupils and allow them a better understanding of what to expect when they head out into the big world.
