More criminal activity has surfaced in Bothwell as Police confirm today that the recent fire at ‘Cut Restaurant’ was started deliberately. The shocking news that yet another fire has forced a temporary closure of a business in the town, will sadden and concern many local people.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a fire at a premises on Old Mill Road in Bothwell around 2.25am on Saturday, 13 September, 2025.
“Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. No-one was injured.”
“The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Operations control mobilised two fire engines to a fire at a premises on Old Mill Road in Bothwell at 2.35am on Saturday. At 2.47am, a further two appliances were sent to the scene. The fire was successfully extinguished at 10.19am.”
As we posted yesterday, the business has confirmed the closure will be temporary.
