300 New Family Homes

Not sure people yet realise the sheer scale of the proposed Craighead housing development.! If it goes ahead, it will add approximately 300 HUNDRED new family homes for Blantyre, significantly increasing population size for this town.

Needless to say, ithe development is massive, considerably larger than say the 170 homes at Greenhall Village or other recent housing estates in the area.

As well as all the increased infrastructure, the developed proposed for just off Whisteberry Road will have playparks and community hub spaces , on a largely terraced site overlooking the river Clyde and Bothwell. The development is not yet at planning stage, but still in consultation.

A public consultation took place on Wednesday 22nd April 2026 at Blantyre Miners Welfare with a further meeting still to be confirmed.

Have your say. Did you attend the consultation event?
