Anniversary – Remembering D-Day

Today, 6th June, we pause to remember the courage, sacrifice and determination of the thousands of Allied troops who landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day in 1944.

Facing unimaginable danger, these brave men helped turn the tide of the Second World War and began the liberation of occupied Europe. Many never returned home, giving their lives so future generations could live in freedom and away from fascism.

As we mark this anniversary, we honour not only those who fought on the beaches, but also the sailors, aircrew, medics and support personnel who played their part in one of history’s largest military operations. Their bravery, resilience and sacrifice must never be forgotten.

Lest we forget.
