Damage was sustained to the matting which may prevent other children playing in the area. Concerning enough in itself, questions need to be asked why these children were out of school at that time, and why they had access to matches and lighters.
By time police arrived, the children had moved on. Repairs to the mats will be necessary from Council funds, coming of course in the first instance from the pockets of us all.
