A warning goes out to residents who are parking their vehicles fully on or partially on Blantyre and Hamilton’s pavements.
Wardens have been out issuing multiple parking fines on Friday and Saturday just there and could still be in these areas next week. Some vehicle owners have been hit with £60 fines, though current legislation can fine up to £100. A reminder parking your vehicle on double yellow lines or up on pavements is not permitted in the Highway Code, with authorities legally able to impose fines. Vehicles in breach of this are photographed as evidence, prior to being issued penalty notices.
We’ve received messages this weekend from a couple of people who with regret, admitted parking on pavements, but wanted to let others know, so it wouldn’t happen to them. There are a few hotspots in Blantyre where cars regularly park up on pavements, causing problems for wheelchairs, scooters and pedestrians trying to get safely past. At a time when the council is out to secure additional revenue streams, these are easy pickings.
Have your say. Have YOU seen vehicles parked up on pavements in the area (no photos or registrations on this page please).
