We were absolutely delighted this Thursday afternoon to drop by Calderside Academy in Blantyre and deliver TWELVE brand new laptops, the first batch of our ongoing campaign!
The donation was partly funded by Agnews Family Shopper on Glasgow Road who generously kick started the campaign with 5 new computers. Blantyre Telegraph using subscriptions from the last few months added to this, to buy a further 7.
So, a total of 12 new laptops in this first delivery with our campaign still live! It means the children don’t have to share computers to the same extent as currently and that there is now more availability. Granted, SLC should be providing these, but in an environment of cuts, the school desperately needed more and both Agnews and Telegraph were happy to help. After all, the education of local children and having the latest, decent and available equipment is of paramount importance!
Head teacher, Ms Calder (pictured) told us, “Thank you sincerely for this generous donation which will make such a meaningful difference to the pupils and staff. These computers will provide more availability for equipment at a time when it’s most needed. The school still requires many more, but this is a fantastic start. Well done to everybody who made that possible.”
Business owner David Agnew, who quickly donated five of the computers told us, “Agnews and Billy’s Cafe is happy to help with this campaign. We’re thrilled to be helping out”.
With thanks to everybody in our Blantyre Telegraph Supporters Group who helped make this possible by remaining subscribed.
