Situation has arose in the Village area of Blantyre. Due to the renovations at Hamilton West and the closure of the railway platform that goes towards Motherwell there has been a huge increase in cars parking around Blantyre train station.
Several residents have been sending us messages about how busy the Village roads currently are. Station Rd which has always been an issue is almost impassable as are the side roads.
One resident told us, “I live in Rosebank Avenue behind the station and today our bins weren’t emptied as the bin lorries couldn’t get down the street due to parked cars . The works in Hamilton West are due to continue until the end of August so God knows what else will happen in the coming weeks . I fear for the safety of pedestrians and emergency services access. Not good.”
Have YOU been affected by the Hamilton West works? Have you noticed more cars parked in your street than usual?
