Our fundraising totals for October 2019 are in and have now been allocated to local good causes. It’s been an absolutely fantastic month with many, many people benefiting all over Blantyre.
During October, Blantyre Telegraph has raised an outstanding £1,270 towards various local good causes! Since 2015, our fundraising now reaches a new updated incredible total of…wait for it…. £28,477 for 167 local good causes!
Fundraising was from various sources:
£152.00 from the sales of Edition 7 (October) Magazine.
£68.00 from Magazine Advertising.
£9.00 from public subscriptions on our website
£8.00 from public donations
£1,000.00 from private donations, with special thanks to a very kind, anonymous lady.
£33 from the sale of Blantyre Project books.
£0.00 from Website Advertising.
Every penny raised goes entirely to local good causes, as always. We’re pleased to announce, this has been spent as follows:
£250.00 for Blantyre Community Committee to help with running costs of the forthcoming Blantyre Festive Event.
£250.00 to Friends of the Calder for further trees, plants and maintenance of the Community Orchard
£200.00 to the 38 women of Blantyre Ladies Guild for their Christmas Party.
£197.00 to buy books as gifts for every care facility in Blantyre. (gifting at Christmas)
£160.00 to Gail Gillon to help with opening her Jollytots & Cookies Cafe to over 50 people who are homeless and lonely on Christmas Day.
£100.00 for buying 24 gifts for local children for Blantyre Toy Drive 2019
£50.00 for voucher for blind lady whose house was robbed in the Village.
£43.00 for new 3 donation tins and 2 stands for further Magazine outlets.
£20.00 for cinema vouchers for High Blantyre boy who won our “harvest moon’ competition.
How to get Involved supporting the Community
There are several fantastic ways you can support Blantyre Telegraph.
- You can now support us offline by buying our monthly magazine. At only £1, the entire sales of that publication will go entirely to local good causes and can be bought at Jinxy’s High Blantyre, Carrigans at Broompark Road, at Family Shopper on Main Street, Ally Bally Bee on Broompark Road, Redburn Farm at Hamilton Technology Park and at Strachan Craft Butchers on Glasgow Road, Greenhall Farm Shop and the West End Bar. More outlets will be added next month!
