Temporary Closure of Carrigan’s Public Bar

A Bar Staff member has tested positive at Carrigans, Blantyre for Covid19 resulting in the temporary closure of the public bar.

The bar staff member works part time and was feeling unwell earlier this week. A test has unfortunately come back as positive. The owners of the popular restaurant and bar and indeed the entire Carrigans Management team have taken immediate, decisive action.

In an exclusive statement made to us this morning, Saturday 5th September 2020, they told Blantyre Telegraph, “Unfortunately a member of our bar staff has tested positive. The individual works in the bar and had no contact whatsoever with our restaurant or customers dining there. This staff member was working solely in the public bar. As a precautionary measure, all our staff are currently being tested. Initial test results for other staff have so far been negative.”

“We’ve taken decisive action to temporarily close our public bar on Broompark Road in the interests of reducing risk to staff and bar customers until the situation becomes clearer. The Restaurant remains unaffected by this decision and bookings for existing customers planning on eating out are maintained.

Please be assured, there is no evidence of transmission within our premises and we intend to continue our stringent daily cleaning, sanitising all touch-points and surfaces using fog machines and using the high standards of diligence all our customers expect of us. We thank you for your understanding at this challenging time.”

If any customer who was in the public bar during last week is feeling unwell or displaying symptoms of Covid, they should follow the normal NHS procedure for arranging a test. For more information or to arrange a test, please follow https://www.nhsinform.scot/campaigns/test-and-protect

The Public Bar in the Function suite on the right hand side of the premises is now closed, with immediate effect. A further statement is expected later this week.

The Bar staff member who tested positive is currently feeling better.
